The F.D.N.Y. Viking Association is a fraternal organization of the New York City Fire Department.
Our membership is composed of active and retired firefighters and friends who are interested in Scandinavian heritage and
culture.
We meet 4 times per year, usually at a Staten Island location.We start with dinner at 7 p.m., currently $10.00. Organizational
business is conducted at 8 p.m. Our meetings are informal in nature.
Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to children of our members in the name of Captain John J. Drennan and Lieutenant Cecil
J. Kent.
One additional College Scholarship of $2,500 is awarded by the Olsen/Barry Scholarship Fund in honor of Eric Olsen and Arthur
Barry Two Viking members Killed at the WTC on 9/11/2001.
Bi-annually, we sponsor the Captain John J. Drennan Medal of Valor to a member of the New York City Fire Department.
Annually, we have a Dinner/Dance and participate in the
Norwegian Day Parade.
The FDNY Vikings are the custodians of the Viking Bell which is inscribed with the names of six young members of the Vikings
who made the supreme sacrifice on 9-11-2001,Arthur Barry L-15, Eric Olsen L-15, Joseph Ogren L-3, and James Riches E-4.
